Dpt Blowing Agent
Dpt Blowing Agent Description
Chemical comppsition: Dinitroso Pentamethylene Tetramine. Molecular weight: 186.17 Specific gravity : 1.45 25 C Decomposition temp: 175-185 C Gas volume: 275-285ml/g Particle size: 14-17um Moisture: 0.3%max Ash: 0.2% pH: 6.5-7.5 Features: DPT is one of the widely used dinitroso Pentamethylene Tetramine blowing agent in the rubber industry but it is one of limited use in plastics because of the high decompostition exotherm and the unpleasant odor of the residue. DPT is non-discoloring and non-staining. DPT when heated alone or in the presence of inert diluents decomposes approximate 190 C , but when used in rubber or plastics in the presence of certain activator produces gas within a temperature range of 130C -190C. The quantity of gas produced from the undiluted material is close to two moles per mole of DPT. DPT tends to be dusty. Good ventilation of handling and mixing area is recommended. DPT should be kept away from sources of heat such as sparks caused by static electric, welding sparks, hot cigarette ashes, hot steam pipes, open flames or sparks from any other source. Precautions should be taken to minimize these exposures by storing in a cool dry area away from ignition sources. DPT is a flammable solid that will continue to burn once ignited and intense heat will be given off. DPT is broadly used blowing agent for rubbers which are natural rubber, styrene butadiene, hi-styrene, neoprene and butyl rubber et al. On the other hand, dpt is particularly useful for compression molding/ blowing molding of plasticized polyvinyl chloride.
