        GAO Tek Inc. Now Provides Allied Telesyn compatible SFPs   Toronto, ON - GAO Tek Inc. has released a series of small form-factor pluggable transceivers (SFPs) which are 100% compatible with Allied Telesyn. SFPs can be considered as an upgraded version of Gigabit Interface Converters or GBICs. Unlike GBICs which use SC fiber optic interfaces, these SFPs use LC interfaces. The size of an SFP is only about half that of GBIC. Signal transmitting rates of these modules range from 100Mbps up to 4Gbps or more, working distance can be from 500 meters to 100 kilo meters, working wavelength of different SFP modules are typically 850nm, 1310nm and 1550nm. GAO Tek also has CWDM type SFP transceivers available. GAO SFPs are hot pluggable, making them easy to change and easier to maintain in comparison with traditional modules since users can replace a single SFP module instead of replacing the entire board.   SFP modules support 850nm, 1310nm, 1550nm wavelengths, 1.25Gbps, 1.0625Gbps data rates, and working distances from 300 meters to 10 kilo meters.

Releases Trendware compatible GBICs   Toronto, ON - GAO Tek Inc. has released a series of Gigabit Interface Convertors (GIBC) that are fully compatible with Trendware’s original products. GAO’s GBIC modules support 850nm, 1310nm, 1550nm wavelength, 1.25Gbps and 1.0625Gbps data rates at working distances from 300 meters to 10 kilo meters. GBICs are input/output transceivers where one end of the transceiver plugs into a Gigabit Ethernet port at the switch and the other end connects to the fiber optic patch cords linking to the fiber optic network. Thus, the GBIC modules function is to transform signals between the Ethernet network and the fiber optic network. GBIC classifications are based on their working wavelengths, data transmission rates, working power, and working distance. Generally, at the fiber optic end the interface is an SC type. The laser unit in a GBIC module can be 850nm VCSEL, 1310nm FP, 1310nm DFB, and 1550nm DFB. GBIC transceivers are hot pluggable; this feature allows a suitably designed enclosure to be changed from one type of external interface to another simply by plugging in a GBIC that has the alternative external interface. GBIC transceivers are suitable for interconnections in Gigabit Ethernet hubs and switches environment. The design of these converters is practical for high performance, point-to-point communication requiring gigabit or fiber channel interconnections.
