Silk screen glass

The silkscreening process involves applying designs to architectural glass to achieve a decorative, colored pattern on flat glass products. In making this product line,HHG Flat Glass silkscreens ceramic frit paint to a glass substrate in a pattern of dots, lines, or holes—then fires the glass on a tempering line so that the silkscreen coating becomes a permanent part of the glass itself. The silkscreening process begins with a thorough cleaning of annealed glass. Next, ceramic frit paint
is applied to the interior (non-weather) side of the glass lite, in whatever pattern is specified by the customer. “Frit”consists of tiny glass particles, pigments, and various chemicals that support the curing process when the annealed glass is heated. HHG Flat Glass offers a range of standard patterns and ceramic frit paint colors, but can also blend custom colors—as well as create unique patterns—for a truly one-of-a-kind effect. Finally, the painted glass is moved into a tempering furnace, where it is fired in order to fuse the ceramic frit with the glass itself—creating a permanent, durable design. Silkscreening can be performed in conjunction with heat strengthening or tempering—when the reheating process is used to fire the ceramic frit paint. Silkscreened products can be laminated after the screening process, if desired. Silkscreened glass is growing in popularity for use in commercial buildings as vision glass, spandrel glass, and skylights—
where it provides solar control. Glass with a silkscreened pattern can also be sputter-coated, for improved performance. Silkscreened products from HHG Flat Glass also lend a decorative accent to bathtub and shower enclosures, kitchen cabinets,
