Dolomite The chemical composition of the dolomite is CaMg[CO3]2. Crystal is a kind of carbonate and belongs to three sides brilliant. The crystal structure of the dolomite is similar with the calcspar. The crystal is rhombi and it always curve to the shape which like saddle. Pure dolomite is white. Sometimes it appears green, yellow, pink, glass blare and so on, because it contains others elements and impurity. The hardness is 3.5-4. The specific gravity is 2.8-2.9. The density is 2.86g/cm 3 ~ 3.20g/cm 3. The refractive index is 1.505 ~ 1.743. The reaction was very slow when the mineral powder was put into the cold rare hydrochloric acid. The chemical composition: MgO: 20.62%, SiO2:2.05%, CaO:29-32% Fe2O3:0.17-0.39%, Al2O3:0.16-0.27% The dolomite is mainly used in refractory material, menstruum, rubber, paper making, pharmacy, building, agriculture, glass, metallurgy, plastic, pottery, fertilizer, dope, paint, construction, environment protecting, energy saving and so on.
