Introduction

Shantou Free Trade Zone (STFTZ) is located in Dahao District of Shantou SEZ. It was approved by the State Council in early January 1993, and has a planned area of 2.34 km². In December 1993, SFTZ passed inspections by General Customs Administration and started attracting foreign investment, especially after 1996.

Investment Climate

Shantou enjoys unique locational advantage in regional transit transportation. It has a long history of foreign trade and is among China's first four Special Economic Zones.

STFTZ is connected to Guangzhou and Shenzhen by expressways. National Highway No. 324 links it to Xiamen in Fujian province.

STFTZ has easy and direct access to seaports where shipping lines are available to 160 ports in over 40 countries and regions. A port for its exclusive use is just 500m away, where 30,000-dwt ships can call at directly.

FTZ boasts low costs and factory rentals. At the same time, as SFTZ eagerly welcomes foreign capital, the administrative committee provides "one-stop" services for all investment-related documentation and formalities.
