Introduction
Baoding High-tech Park (BDHTP) is located in Baoding city of Hebei province. It gained the status of state-level high-tech park in September 1992. The total development area of the Park is 12 km 2.
Frequently dubbed the southern gateway of Beijing, Baoding spans a land area of 22,100 km 2. It has a history of more than 2,000 years. BDHTP is located in the golden delta of Beijing, Tianjin and Shijiazhuang (the capital of Hebei province). The city is 137 km from Beijing, 145 km from Tianjin and 120km from Shijiazhuang.
Investment Climate
BDHTP consists of three subsidiary parks, namely, the Central Science Park, North China Industrial Zone (the eastern park) and Bada Industrial Zone (the western park). The North China Industrial Zone is targeted to become a science and education center. Hebei No. 2 Foreign Language College has moved into the Park and Hebei University will similarly establish a branch campus there.
At the end of 2001, the number of registered enterprises in BDHTP was 981, among which 171 were foreign enterprises and 124 were high-tech enterprises. By the end of 2003, total utilized FDI had reached USD 400 million, and in 2003, total industrial output reached RMB 10 billion (USD 1.21 billion).
The development focus of the Park is electronics, new materials, light industry, food industry and optical electronic-mechanical integration technologies and products. Major investors include Hebei Gunner Group, Baoding, JFF Storage Battery, Lucky Film Group and Taiwei Group.
The Bada Industrial Zone specializes in food and other light industries. With a total investment of RMB 1.27 billion (USD 150 million), San Miguel is the largest investor in the zone.
In addition, a national new energy base was established in BDHTP. The auto parts industry is also emerging as a big sector in BDHTP.
