Introduction
Located at the southwest of
Hefei, Hefei University Science Park (HFUSP) was
developed by the University of Science &
Technology of China, Anhui University and Hefei
University of Technology. In 2001, the Park was
awarded the status of national university science
park.
The Park comprises seven subsidiary zones:
USTC Zone, AHU Zone, HUT Zone, Software Zone,
Biomedical Zone, New Materials Zone and
Entrepreneur Zone.
The University of Science & Technology of
China (USTC) comes under the direct leadership of
the Chinese Academy of Sciences and is one of
China's leading universities. Among the 1,800
personnel in the University, there are 15 Fellows
from CAS and CAE, 476 professors and 721 associate
professors. The total number of students is about
13,000. Major international academic journals such
as the US-based Science and French-based Research
have listed USTC as one of China's most excellent
universities.
The University has established cooperative
ties with major Chinese enterprises such as Daqing
Petroleum Administration, Sino Petrochem, Baoshan
Steel, Legend and Hai'er. More than 40 overseas
universities have also established academic links
with USTC. These include Purdue University, Tokyo
University, Imperial College in UK, University of
Rome, University of Stuttgart, Moscow State
University, and Hong Kong University of Science
& Technology.
At the end of 2000, more than 102 enterprises
from industries including information,
micro-electronics, software development, new
materials and bio-engineering had joined Hefei
University Science Park.
With a registered capital of RMB 15 million
(USD 1.81 million), HFUSP Development Corporation
is in charge of planning and development affairs
in the Science Park.
