and was authorized as a state-level Development
Zone by the State Council in February 2002. The

Climate
Major industries, including
mechanical engineering, automobile and auto parts,
machine tools and airplane components, are being
promoted in the Zone. There are more than 60,000
employees and 7,000 technical professionals.
In 2003, the GDP volume of the Zone was RMB
1.74 billion (USD 210 million), 18.5% higher than
in 2002. GYETDZ has been designated as one of the
driving engines of Guiyang's economic growth. It
is one of three central regions of Guiyang.
Its low costs and strong governmental support
have attracted some big projects. For example,
Hisense Industrial Park, with total investment of
RMB 450 million (USD 54.41 million), is under
construction. It will be an enterprise with an
annual output of RMB 7.2 billion (USD 870
million).
Another project, Guizhou Aviation Youth
Automobile, co-invested by Zhejiang Jinhua
European Auto City Investment Co. and Guizhou
Aviation, will reach 100,000 passenger car
production capacity upon
completion.
