Introduction
Chengdu Economic and
Technological Development Zone (CDETDZ) was
established in July 1990 and was approved in
February 2000, becoming Sichuan province's only
state-level development zone. The Zone covers 26
km2.
CDETDZ is located at Longquanyi District,
east of Chengdu City. It is 13.6 km from the
downtown district and 30 km from Chengdu
International Airport.
Investment
Climate
After more than 10 years of
development, 10.25 km2 of land has been
developed. Total investments in infrastructure
reached RMB 1.5 billion (USD 180 million).
At present, more than 500 projects have been
established by domestic and foreign investors in
CDETDZ, among which there are about 100 foreign
projects with combined contractual investment of
USD 220 million and utilized foreign investment of
USD 70 million. Foreign investment comes from more
than 20 countries and regions worldwide, such as
the USA, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau and
Taiwan.
Major industries promoted in the Zone include
machinery, electronics, new construction
materials, pharmaceuticals and food processing.
In 2003, the GDP of CDETDZ was RMB 4.94
billion (USD 600 million), up 26.3% over the
previous year, while industrial value-added was
RMD 1.8 billion (USD 220 million), up 36.4% y-o-y.
