The Vehicle Commnication Module (VCM) is a high performance, ruggedized, vehicle serial communications gateway. This device provides multiple vehicle serial communication interfaces to meet the requirements of all Ford Motor Company vehicles.

The VCM unit is housed in a magnesium enclosure with a tough, protective, plastic cover for the PCMCIA expansion slot which can, for example, be used for wireless LAN cards or memory expansion.

The VCM device contains five LED status indicators to provide the user with a visual mode of internal VCM, vehicle, and host device (e.g. NGS Classic's T-Handle, PC, Pocket PC/PDS, and Laptop/IDS) operation.

Application Overview

This reader works with the majority of OBD 2, EOBD and CAN-BUS vehicles manufactured.
Plus VAG vehicles such as:Audi, Volkswagen, Seat and Skoda vehicles manufactured since 1990 - even with newer models that require a direct CAN connection.

If your car has a 16 pin 'OBD style' data link connector (DTC) the code reader is compatible, however if it has an older-style 2x2 DTC then it will depend whether there are 3 or 4 wires connecting to the pins. If there are 4 wires then the scanner will work but if there are only 3 wires,leaving one pin disconnected,then,sorry,but this product will not work.

If your vehicle is the 2x2 DTC 4 wire style you will need a 2x2 cable adapter. (Not included in this sale).

OP-COM is a PC based diagnostic program.

The diagnostic inteface is USB port based, so there will be NO COMPATIBILITY ISSUES, with serial to USB
converters.

Compared to the TECH2, which is the dealers tool (with a 32 MB card+CANdi interface), the price of OP-COM is quite affordable.

OP-COM is under continous development, new version will be availabe approximately every 3-4 month.

OP-COM is currently available at the following languages:
