Briefing

An important intermediate for organic synthesis. Can be used as solvents, plasticizers, stabilizers and surfactants, etc.

Detailed

Epichlorohydrin (ECH) is colorless, flammable, explosive, volatitle fluid at normal temperature and pressure. Its vapor is strongly irritating to eyes, nose and throat. The maximum allowable concentration in the air is 1mg/m3 (5ppm).

Epichlorohydrin is insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as ether, alcohol, carbon tetrachloride, acetone, benzene, etc. It also can dissolve in cellulose acetate, rosin resin and be miscible with chlorine-containing polymers such as chlorinated rubber and polyvinyl chloride resin.

Application

Epichlorohydrin (ECH) is widely used in organic synthesis. It is mainly used as intermediates for synthetic resin, glycerol, epichlorohydrin rubber, medicine, dyes, etc. It can aslso be used as solvents, plasticizers, stabilizers and surfactants.
