T4, also known as Levothyroxine or L-thyroxine, is a synthetic form of thyroid hormone, the hormone normally secreted by the follicular cells of the thyroid gland.
T4 is used to treat thyroid hormone deficiency and occasionally to prevent the recurrence of thyroid cancer. Like its naturally secreted counterpart, T4 is chemically in the chiral L-form.
