RTV2 silicone rubbers are liquid or pasty silicone elastomers reticulating at room temperature.  After the addition of appropriate catalyst they form a stable and not reversible compound characterized by high elasticity and mechanical resistance. Owing to their high chemical-mechanical properties combined with easy workability, the RTV2 silicone rubbers are suitable for making flexible moulds and matrices to reproduce, starting from an original model, hand-made articles of any kind and form,in different applicative sectors. Silicone moulds, owing to their anti-adherence features, allow an easy demoulding of models and assure extreme faithfulness in the reproduction of details.

Rubber silicone will reproduce the finest detail and is suitable for a variety of industrial and art related applications including prototypes, furniture, sculpture and architectural elements.  Rubber silicone for making baluster mold can also be used to cast a variety of materials including wax, gypsum, low melt alloys/metals and urethane, epoxy or polyester resins (without using a release agent).

How to making silicone rubber molds with Rubber Silicone?

a.deal with the orignal sculpture

b.sprayed on release agent

c.weigh correct molding silicone rubber according to the instruction

d.stir two part molding silicone compound evenly

e.vacuum pumping about 5 min

f.poured on or brushed on the orignal sculpture

g.curing 2-4 hours

h.demould and apply to casting

Attention for making a mold by Rubber silicone 

1. RTV2 Silicone Rubbers is white flowing liquid with general hardness of 22-40A° after curing.
2. If the mold makers want to make large products and large size molds, the mold should be made of silicone rubber with high hardness. On the contrary, if the products with fine and precision patterns, it should be made of silicon with low hardness.
3. The amount of the curing agent depends on the actual requirements of the customer. If molds requiring fast drying and demould, more curing agent is needed; Contrarily, if molds requiring slower drying and demould, less curing agent is needed.
4. it doesn't better to add silicone oil into silicone rubber. If a special soft silicon mold or fine detailed and complex patterns products are required, 5%-10% silicone oil can be added to soften the mold for easy demould. )
