Processing Instruction of Addition cure silicone rubber for general mould making:

1.Preparation of silicone rubber

It must be thoroughly mixed before it is removed from containers. Mixing disperses the fillers uniformly and improves the flow properties.

2.Weighing out the required amount of hardener:

If the quantity is not correct, it will affect curing speed and cured properties. The volume of vessel must be four times of the mixing components of deaeration.

3.Mixing homogeneously:

The components of silicone rubber and hardener must be mixed homogeneously, otherwise it will be partly cured and solidified to cause mould damage easily.

4.Removal of entrapped air:

Deaerate in a vacuum cupboard to achieve bubble-free vulcanization. Usually the rising mix collapses before it reached the rim. However, if it looks likely to overflow, a small amount of air should be admitted to the vessel. This step should be repeated until the mix collapses completely.

5.Application of the model:

Pouring the mixed silicone rubber in a thin stream over the highest point of the model to form casting mold, apply with a stiff brush to form first layer and deaeration by air gun to spread on the surface, then applying it again to first layer of the partially cured silicone rubber 2-3 times to form brush mould.

Why does the Addition cure silicone rubber for general mould making have few mold making times?

The silicone rubber mold has few molding times is due to follwoing reasons: adding too much silicone oil which will destroy the molecular of silicone rubber; making the mold for small and fine detailed products with higher hardness silicone rubber which is easy to break; making the mold for large products with soft silicone rubber which will reduce the tensile and tear strength of the mold, and the mold will have deformation. Thus, we should take the proper silicone rubber to make the mold for suitable products.
