Many ink manufactures have looked into silicon as a possible plastisol replacement. It has been around since 1901 when the chemist Frederick Kipping begin his study of organic silicon compounds, which is a component in modern silicone and it was he who coined the term silicone in 1901.

Modern silicone is made with carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and yes, silicon atoms as well as other ingredients.
