FAQ

Q1: How is blue silk different from satin?

A1: Blue silk and satin are not the same thing at all. I think silk is basically a natural fiber that gets dyed blue or whatever color, but satin is more about the way its woven to make that smooth shiny look. You can have silk satin, which is nice, but satin can come from cheaper stuff like polyester too. It seems like the difference is silk is the material itself, and satin is just the style of the weave.

Q2: How can you tell if blue silk is real?

A2:Figuring out if blue silk is real can be tricky. Real silk feels cool when you touch it, smooth but not too perfect, and it has this soft shine instead of looking like a mirror. It drapes nicely, kind of flows, and if you hold it it warms up a bit from your hand. Under a light or something, you see little uneven spots, which synthetics do not have, they are too uniform. That is the part that stands out to me.

Q3:Is taffeta silk real silk?

A3:Taffeta is another one. It is not the fiber, but how its made by weaving. If its silk taffeta, then yeah, that is real silk. But a lot of what you see in stores is polyester taffeta, just to look crisp without costing much. I might be oversimplifying, but it gets confusing with all these names.

Q4: What is the cheap version of silk called?

A4: There is no real cheap silk, I guess. People use polyester that looks like silk or viscose, which is rayon. Those copy the look but are easier to wash and cheaper. Kind of handy for everyday stuff.

Q5: What is a thin silk fabric called?

A5: Thin silk, like chiffon or georgette or organza, those are light and airy. They drape well, depending on if they are stiff or not.

Q6: What do you call fake silk?

A6: Fake silk is just called faux silk or synthetic, usually polyester or rayon. It shines like silk but does not breathe as well, feels different.

Q7: What is the unhealthiest fabric to wear?

A7:The unhealthiest fabric to wear, probably bad synthetics that do not breathe, make you sweaty. Natural ones or good synthetics are better for skin.
