The centrifuge 5424 is a 24-place micro-centrifuge for 1.5/2.0 ml tubes. The 5424 can reach a maximum rcf of 20,238 x g/14,680 rpm. Special design allows safe centrifugation of hazardous materials. The g-force generated by high speed motors is sufficient for a variety of molecular applications including DNA, RNA and protein separation and isolation. The centrifuge 5424 can be equipped with up to four different rotors: an aerosol-tight standard 24-place rotor, a 4 x 8 tube PCR strip rotor (max. rcf: 18,615 x g), a specially designed KIT rotor for processing spin columns, and a special coated rotor for ultimate chemical resistance. Timer can be set from 1 min to 9 hr, 59 min or hold. An “at set” feature allows the timer to start counting when the start button is depressed or when the rotor reaches its preset speed. Other features include an “end-of-run” alarm with adjustable volume, a SOFT-brake function, an adjustable short spin speed, a parameter lock to prevent accidental changes and a screen saver option.
