QATAR 974 STADIUM SYSTEMS INTEGRATION
Stadium 974 —— in Doha is one of the most innovative venues in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, seating approximately 44,000 spectators. Its modular design, built using 974 recycled shipping containers, allows it to be fully dismantled and repurposed—setting a new benchmark in sustainable mega‑event architecture.
PFM played a key role in this landmark project by delivering the design, supply, and installation of several specialized sports systems: the natural grass pitch, boarding/farm turf supply (“Turf Farm”), high‑performance pitch floodlighting, and giant LED screens. Our solutions ensured match‑grade surface quality, excellent lighting for broadcast and play, and immersive visual displays, all while respecting the stadium’s modular and environmental principles.

Main Pitch – Natural Grass Playing Field
PFM delivered the high-quality natural grass pitch for Stadium 974, built to meet FIFA competition standards. Designed for durability, uniform ball behavior, and player safety, the surface ensured excellent match performance throughout the tournament—including group-stage World Cup fixtures.
Turf Farm – Pre-Grown Grass Supply & Support
To ensure the pitch's quality and resilience under intense use, PFM established and managed a dedicated turf farm for this project. The pre-grown turf allowed for precise timing, controlled cultivation, and seamless installation—offering consistent grass density, color, and playability.
Pitch Floodlighting – Broadcast-Grade Lighting System
PFM supplied and installed the natural grass pitch system for the main stadium, engineered for optimal drainage, surface flatness, and player safety. The system meets international match standards and ensures consistent ball behavior, resilience under heavy use, and excellent visual quality for broadcast and in-stadium experience.
Giant LED Screen – Immersive Match-Day Display
PFM also provided the stadium's giant LED screen system, ensuring real-time match information, replays, and engaging content for fans. The display was engineered for high brightness, wide viewing angles, and weather resistance—blending performance with the stadium’s modular architecture.
