Powder property is the basic characteristic of powder materials. Study of powder property has important practical significance for powder production, processing, packing, transportation, storage and application and so on. For example, angle of repose and collapse angle should be considered while designing conical degree for a storage silo; tap density and bulk density should be considered while designing bags or barrels for packing certain material; flowability index and jet flow index etc should be considered when powder is transmitted by gas in the tube. Although powder property have so much practical significance, but its test has been in crude and the original manual state for a long time, which leads to the low test precision, unstable results, thus design work for powder engineering cannot be well guided. ?Test items: angle of repose, collapse angle, difference angle, flat plate angle, dispersity, bulk density, tap density, compression ratio, voidage, agglutination degree, uniformity, flowability index, jet flow index, sieve size, etc.
?Conform to Chinese national standards and international standards. The Chinese national standards that comply with are GB/T 16913-2008-4.5, GB/T 1479.1-2011, GB/T 5162-2006 / ISO3953:1993; Comply with the United States ATSM standard, ATSM 6393 -08; comply with the 07/2010:20934 of European pharmacopoeia EP7.0 and the United States pharmacopoeia 616, etc.
?Can be used as dry sieve particle size instrument: size range is 45-3000 microns, sample dosage is 10 - 50 gram, up to eight sieve grades, sieve of each grade can be determined according to the size of sample to be analyzed, and sieving time can be set freely. The analysis results of the tables and histograms can be directly printed, can also be exported to Excel for later modification.

?Angles to be measured by the image measurement method: firstly shoot a picture for powder accumulation by using high resolution CCD imaging technique, and then angle of repose, collapse angle, flat plate angle, etc are obtained through the unique image recognition and processing technology. It has characteristic of fastness, high precision, and good repeatability.
?Automatic control technology: by introducing man-machine interface with touch screen, it is easy to operate. By introducing SOP operation mode, it brings a standardized test process, accurate and reliable results.
?Advanced tap density technology: tap density are measured by using the perfect combination of variable frequency and rotating vibration technology. Vibration frequency of 50 - 300 times/min can be continuously adjusted. Vibration amplitude has two options (3 mm and 14 mm). In the process of vibration, measuring cylinder is in the condition of uniform rotation, which guarantees the smooth surface of powder, improves the accuracy of reading.
?Data communication: With connecting electronic balance to the instrument, weighing data (such as container weight, powder weight and the total weight, etc) can be automatically transmitted to the system, and be calculated automatically, then be directly sent to the instrument. Results can be printed out. Also can be exported a flash disk for further modification.
Test items
?Angle of repose: In static equilibrium, the slope of natural powder accumulation and bottom level forms an acute angle which is called the angle of repose. This angle is formed by free falling powder down to a particular platform under the electromagnetic vibration mode. Angle of repose directly reflects the powder's flowability, the smaller the angle is, the better the flowability is. The bigger the angle is, the worse the flowability is. Angle of repose is also called the rest angle or natural angle of slope.
?Collapse angle: In the process of measuring the angle of repose, the accumulation of powder is hit by an external shock, and then collapse phenomenon occurs on the surface of powder accumulation. After collapse, the slope of powder accumulation and bottom level will form an acute which is called collapse angle. The smaller the collapse angle is, the better the flowability is.
?Difference Angle: the difference of angle between angle of repose and collapse angle is called difference angle. The bigger the difference angle is, the stronger the splashing property is.
?Flat plate angle: After lifting up vertically the flat plate that is buried in natural powder accumulation, an angle A will be formed between the free surface (slope) of powder accumulation on the flat plate and horizontal plane. An angle B will be formed after external shock. The average value of angle A and B is called flat plate angle. The smaller the flat plate angle is, the stronger the flowability is. Generally, flat plate angle is bigger than the angle of repose. Flat Angle is also called spatula angle.
?Tap density: Fill a specific container with certain weight (or volume) of powder, and then vibrate the container with specific intensity, frequency for certain period of time, so that the gap between the particles is compressed, and particles are in a tight state. The powder density at this time is called tap density.
?Bulk density: refers to the density that powder is filled in particular container in a natural state.
?Compressibility: refers to the ratio of the difference of the tap density and bulk density of powder to its tap density. The smaller the compressibility is, the better the flowability is. Compressibility is also called the compression ratio.
?Dispersity: after casting a certain amount of powder from a specific height, percentage of amount of powder scattered outside the collecting tray of the total powder is called dispersity. Dispersity is the scattering degree for the powder in the air. Dispersity has relation with powder's dispersibility, scattering property and splashing property. If the dispersity is more than 50%, it means that the sample has a strong tendency to scatter.
?Voidage: refers to the percentage of the gaps in the powder of the total volume of powder. Voidage varies due to the difference of powder particle shape, arrangement of structure, particle size, etc. For spherical particles, voidage of powder is about 40%; for superfine or irregular shape particles, voidage is 70-80% or higher.
?Uniformity: refers to the ratio of the D60 and D10 calculated by particle size distribution which is obtained through sieving method. Generally, it is used for coarse powder with less coherence.
?Agglutination degree: it is a kind of powder's characteristics showed during sieving process, and is an explanatory measurement index for the internal stress of particles. The bigger the degree of agglutination is, the worse the flowability of powder is. Agglutination degree is applicable to fine powder or micro powder with tendency of easy aggregation.
?Flowability index: it is a weighted sum of the angle of repose, compressibility, flat plate angle, uniformity or agglutination degree, etc. Flowability index has relation with compressibility.
?Jet flow Index: is a weighted sum of flowability index, collapse angle, difference angle, dispersity and so on.
