Description

CT interlocking type piling pipe( CT steel pipe pile )is a new type of deep foundation pit support and hydraulic cofferdam structure. It achieves dual functions of high-strength load-bearing and efficient waterproofing and anti-seepage by welding specially designed C-shaped and T-shaped locking buckles on both sides of the steel pipe pile, which tightly connect adjacent piles during construction.
CT Conecting Method-200-1

Structure And Working Principle Lock Design

C-shaped and T-shaped (or male and female) locks are respectively installed on both sides of the steel pipe main, and assembled into a continuous wall through mechanical nesting. Dual function: The lock buckle bite transmits horizontal soil pressure and water pressure, while the lock buckle gap can effectively block groundwater infiltration.

 Specifications

The diameter of steel pipes is mostly between 529 millimeters and 3220 millimeters, and the material is often ASTM A252 Gr.1 Gr.2 Gr.3/Q345 or Q370 high-strength steel.

Core Technological Advantages

High overall stiffness: The bearing capacity and bending performance of a single pile are better than those of ordinary Larson steel sheet piles. Good waterproofing effect: The interlocking surface of the lock buckle, combined with waterproofing filler, can form a reliable anti-seepage curtain. High construction efficiency: It can be recycled for use, saving time and comprehensive engineering costs.            Contact Us Now

FAQ

1. What is the core difference between CT interlocking pile tube and ordinary Larson steel sheet pile (U-shaped/Z-shaped)? How should I choose?
Answer: The fundamental difference between the two lies in their structural mechanical properties and applicable scenarios.

CT interlocking pile tube: It has a closed section (circular tube) and a high stiffness locking buckle, and its section modulus and bending stiffness are much higher than those of open steel sheet piles of the same size. This enables it to withstand greater soil and water pressure, making it particularly suitable for deep excavations (depth>10 meters), high head cofferdams, or projects that require both vertical and horizontal bearing capacity.

Ordinary Larson steel sheet pile: It has an open thin-walled section, is lightweight, and can be constructed flexibly. However, in deep or complex geological conditions, its stiffness and waterproof performance (the locking mouth is prone to leakage) may be insufficient.

Simple suggestion: For core structures with deep support, strict waterproof requirements, and the need to withstand heavy loads, CT piles are a better choice; For shallow excavations, temporary cofferdams, or landscape projects, traditional steel sheet piles may be more economical.
2. How does your company ensure the straightness and joint accuracy of pile pipes up to 30 meters in length? This is critical for on-site construction interlocking.
Answer: This is indeed one of the technical challenges that customers are most concerned about. We manage it through a three-pronged approach:

Forming Process: We use SAWH (Spiral Submerged Arc Welding) for forming. Compared to straight-seam pipes, spiral welds have a more uniform distribution of residual stress, which helps maintain the overall straightness of the pipe body.

Proprietary Welding Fixtures: When welding C-type and T-type interlocks, we use full-length continuous positioning fixtures to ensure that the parallelism error between the interlock and the pipe’s generatrix is controlled within the design tolerance (typically ≤3 mm/10 m).

100% GO Gauge Inspection: Before each finished pile leaves the factory, a full-length passability test is conducted using a GO gauge that simulates the interlocking joints, ensuring that the interlocking joints of adjacent piles engage smoothly during on-site pile driving.
3. The project design requires ASTM A252 Gr.3 material and should deal with highly corrosive soil/seawater environments. What certification and anti-corrosion solutions can you provide?
Answer: Absolutely possible.

Material certification: Our A252 Gr.3 material has a complete steel mill material list (MTC) and can provide independent third-party testing reports (such as SGS/BV) to ensure that the yield strength (≥ 345MPa) and tensile strength (≥ 480MPa) meet the standards.

Customized anti-corrosion solution: Based on your corrosive environment, we offer multiple coating options:

High corrosion (seawater/chemical plant): Recommended 3PE (three-layer polyethylene) or fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) coating to form a dense insulation barrier.

Moderate corrosion (moist soil): Hot dip galvanizing (HDG) can be used, sacrificing anode protection.

Temporary/low corrosion: Epoxy coal tar or rust proof oil can be used.

We can design and recommend matching coating systems for you based on standards such as ISO 12944.
4. How efficient is the installation of CT locks during on-site construction? Do you need special equipment?
Answer: The design of CT lock buckle fully considers the convenience of construction.

Installation method: It is similar to conventional steel pipe pile construction, usually using hydraulic vibration hammers or impact hammers to sink the pile to a predetermined depth. During the pile sinking process, the C-shaped and T-shaped locks of adjacent piles will naturally guide and complete mechanical interlocking, without the need for additional alignment or welding processes.

Efficiency advantage: Compared to traditional steel sheet pile cofferdams that require welding of water stop plates, the interlocking connection of CT piles can save more than 50% of the locking connection time. At the same time, its high stiffness allows for use at larger pile distances, reducing the total number of piles and further improving overall construction efficiency.

Equipment requirements: Mainly relying on standard piling equipment (crane+vibration hammer), but it is recommended to use a hydraulic pile driver equipped with a guide frame to ensure verticality and make the locking buckle bite smoother.
5.  As a purchaser, what technical support or samples can I obtain before the project starts?
Answer: We provide full process project level technical support, far beyond standard samples:

Design phase support: Can provide lock section drawings (DWG format), section characteristic parameters (such as moment of inertia, section modulus), and even assist in simple cofferdam structure calculation review.

Lock sample: Short sized lock matching samples (approximately 500mm long) can be provided to facilitate on-site testing of bite effect and welding quality.

Pile driving simulation consultation: Based on your geological report, we can provide recommendations on the feasibility of pile driving and equipment selection.

Free physical samples: For regular specifications, we provide free lock connection samples (shipping collect) for you to test.
